Condolences to family and loved ones of Olympic champion and Honored Master of Sports of the USSR Ivan Edeshko

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has extended condolences to the family and loved ones of Olympic champion and Honored Master of Sports of the USSR Ivan Edeshko.

“Please accept my sincere condolences over the passing of world sports legend Ivan Edeshko. A remarkable athlete has left us - a player from the generation of great Soviet champions, whose name is forever etched in the history of world basketball. His golden pass, which secured victory for the Soviet national team at the 1972 Olympics, became a testament to the highest skill and will to win, inspiring generations of fans and young athletes,” the head of state said.

The President emphasized that in Belarus, Ivan Edeshko was known as a talented coach and wise mentor who made a significant contribution to the development and promotion of basketball and the upbringing of youth.

“The bright memory of him will always live in our hearts,” the message of condolences reads.
