Condolences to the family and friends of Belarusian statesman Aleksandr Yakobson

    Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent condolences to the family and friends of Belarusian statesman Aleksandr Yakobson.

    “Please accept my condolences over the death of an eminent statesman of the Republic of Belarus, whose entire life was a vivid example of service to the people and the Fatherland,” the message of condolences reads.

    “We have lost a man of outstanding professional qualities and moral principles, as his numerous state awards confirm,” the President noted. “A builder by education and by vocation, he went through a harsh school of life, acquiring a steely Soviet tempering. He was always a demanding and competent leader, fundamentally building production and management processes, relying in his work on law, justice and discipline. His contribution to the emergence of sovereign Belarus and to ensuring its national security cannot be overestimated.”

    Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that, at the same time, Aleksandr Yakobson remained a simple and modest man. “The bright memory of him will always live in our hearts,” the head of state noted.

    Aleksandr Yakobson served in various state posts. Among other things, he was Gomel Oblast Governor, Chairman of the State Control Committee, and Presidential Aide - Chief Inspector for the city of Minsk.
