The Ministry of Information  is a central government agency that shapes and implements the government policy with regard to mass media, book publication, printing industry, and book distribution. The ministry is entrusted with regulating the transfer and distribution of information.

Main tasks

  • to implement a state policy in the sphere of mass information, publishing industry, printing industry, the distribution of printed media and products of mass media, to regulate, manage, and coordinate the work of other central government agencies, municipal authorities in this sphere;
  • to work out and implement measures aimed at reformation, dynamic development of the economy in the sphere of mass information, publishing industry, printing industry, the distribution of printed media and products of mass media;
  • to abide by international agreements and treaties in order to pursue a policy coordinated with the relevant bodies of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Eurasian Economic Union in the sphere of mass information, publishing industry, printing industry, the distribution of printed media and products of mass media;
  • to organize and advance international cooperation in the sphere of mass information, publishing industry, and printing industry;
  • to shape the culture of mass information, to bolster the legal and professional foundation for the operation of mass media, corporations and self-employed businessmen, who perform publishing and printing activities, distribute printed media and products of mass media.
