Interethnic relations
There were more than 140 ethnic and cultural associations uniting representatives of 25 ethnicities in Belarus as of 1 January 2024.
They have either international, national or regional status. The main statutory goals are cultural, educational and charitable activities.
The associations run artistic groups, Sunday schools to teach the language and culture of their historical homeland. National and cultural public associations actively participate in events to celebrate the state holidays of Belarus, other events of national and local importance and also make a significant contribution to the spiritual life of the Belarusian society.
The Advisory Interethnic Council was set up at the Office of the Commissioner for Religions and Nationalities in 2006. It includes the heads of 20 ethnic communities.
