Scholarships of the President of the Republic of Belarus

In order to provide social support and encouragement to students, to improve the quality of training of scientific personnel of the highest qualifications, to raise the efficiency of their research activities Decree No.398 of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 6 September 2011 “On social support of students” has instituted the presidential scholarships for:

  • 200 university students and cadets of military schools;
  • 100 postgraduate students of universities and military schools
Scholarships to university students and cadets of military schools are awarded for academic excellence throughout the entire period of education, significant achievements in research and creative work, exemplary conduct.

The scholarships are awarded twice a year by the council of the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the social support of talented students after reviewing proposals submitted by the corresponding councils of higher education institutions.

Presidential scholarships are awarded for one semester with the preservation of regular university scholarships.

Scholarships to postgraduate students of universities and military schools are awarded for one calendar year as financial stimuli for creative and R&D work, practical application of research results.

Scholarship winners are determined following an annual open three-stage contest. The final selection is done by a special commission in charge of the distribution of presidential scholarships to postgraduate students of universities and military schools.
