Olympiads for students in Belarus

The Olympiad movement is one of the main elements of the Belarusian secondary education system. Olympiads are intellectual excellence competitions held among school students to discover and develop their creative abilities.

The nationwide Olympiad is held in 19 school subjects. The Olympiad in Chinese was first held in the 2015-2016 academic year, the Olympiad in physical education and health – in the 2018-2019 academic year.

Some 600,000 students take part in the Olympiad movement every year.

All winners of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree diplomas of the nationwide academic excellence competition are nominated for scholarships of the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the social support of gifted students.

Winners of the final stage of the nationwide intellectual competition take part in international student competitions.

Talented students represent the Republic of Belarus at the international level and strengthen the image of the country which prioritizes the quality of school education.

Good organization of nationwide events and smart approaches to the selection of candidates for the participation in intellectual competitions make it possible for Belarusian students to be a success internationally.
