Press conference for Russian regional mass media

On 17 October President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko gave a press conference for the representatives of the Russian regional mass media.

The meeting of the head of state with journalists lasted for more than five and a half hours. Russian journalists asked over 30 questions regarding the international agenda, social and economic development of Belarus, cooperation with Russia in various areas, integration in the UnionState, agreements in the Eurasian Economic Union, the situation in Ukraine, and other important issues.

Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that such press tours of Russian reporters to Belarus have been held for 12 years. The President mentioned the positive effect of such events for the unification of the two nations, development of all-round cooperation, understanding and good-neighborliness.

“I am convinced that every time you open Belarus as a fraternal, close country which can, probably, surprise somebody in the good sense of the word. And of course, you made sure that the Russians will not and should not feel as strangers in Belarus,” the Belarusian leader said.

“You see perfectly well what is happening on the planet these days. The planet is shaken by civil strife and armed conflicts. These are the results of the implementation of the controlled chaos strategy that considerably damage many countries on various continents, unfortunately, including Europe. We also know who control this chaos, who stir up trouble and resolve their own problems by destabilizing huge regions and setting nations against other nations,” the Belarusian head of state said.

“I am confident that in this complicated time Belarusians and Russians have to be together. We have to be stronger and should not be ashamed of defending our economic and political interests together. Our nations should live in agreement,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.

The President stressed that he always tries to give sincere and open answers to all questions. “This is the main principle of our press conference. We will observe this principle today,” he said. He also told journalists to show Belarus objectively without embellishing reality and disparaging achievements.

The press conference was attended by more than 100 media representatives from 50 regions of the Russian Federation.
