Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko paid a working trip to Vitebsk Oblast on 12 June.
First of all, the head of state asked the governor about the situation in agriculture and the progress in fodder conservation. He pointed to the facts of carelessness, with hay remaining in the fields for a long time and getting wet in the rain, losing its quality.
“I am not going to teach you technology. The fodder will be of poor quality, and we will again face the loss of livestock,” said the Belarusian leader.
“I know that you are interested [in good performance], but sometimes it turns out the other way around. Please pay attention. Quality and nothing but quality!” the president said.
Within the next two to three years it is necessary to address the issue of household waste collection and recycling, Aleksandr Lukashenko said during his working trip to Polotsk.
“This is a very important matter,” said the Belarusian leader.
“It is a shame that we create huge landfills, bury waste. It is one of the areas we should pay close attention to. First of all, it is profitable, and secondly, we will improve the environment. This also means jobs and raw materials for industry. We will have to work hard on this matter,” the head of state said.
He pointed out that rich Switzerland recycles 80% to 90% of certain types of waste. “We cannot reach even 50%,” the president said.
The head of state was also shown a display of utilities equipment in Polotsk, including equipment for boiler houses. The president drew attention to the need to expand the use of local fuels, which is important in terms of substitution of energy imports.
During the meeting to discuss housing and utilities services, the head of state said that much had been done to develop new equipment for the housing and utilities sector. “First of all, the equipment is powerful, not cheap, and not everything is great with the maintenance of this equipment in the housing and utilities sector, as well as in agriculture. This is also due to the level of training of the personnel. This is not the future any more. This is the present. Many organizations in the housing and utilities sector have such equipment. Without this equipment there can be no order in the housing and utilities sector,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
