It is necessary to expand the lineup of road construction machines. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave the relevant instructions while on a working trip in Slutsk District, Minsk Oblast on 6 October.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Start making them. We have a huge road network. We have to get it in order. If we have to import machines all the time, why do we need an automobile engineering industry of our own?”
It was noted that there are plans to reconstruct 7,000 km of municipal roads in the next few years. New technologies will be employed, which means that Belarusian road construction companies will need more advanced machines. This is why Aleksandr Lukashenko instructed Belarusian industrial enterprises to expand the lineup of road construction machines. The head of state stressed he wanted cutting-edge road construction machines.
“I want all these technologies in use starting next year. Showing and forgetting them is not the idea,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko. He remarked that if Belarusian manufacturers cannot create new machines to match capabilities of imports, the existing models can be adjusted to be able to fulfill new tasks. “I just want Belarusian companies to do it,” instructed the President.
It was decided that the Transport and Communications Ministry and the Industry Ministry will put together a program for Belarusian companies to make new kinds of road construction machines in addition to manufacturing conventional models. The modernization of municipal roads will be accomplished more effectively thanks to the program. Apart from that, the new Belarus-made road construction machines will represent a good addition to the country’s export.
During the working trip Aleksandr Lukashenko was also made familiar with modern road construction machines made by MAZ, MTZ, and Amkodor. Imports are no longer required in many cases thanks to the quality of and demand for the Belarusian road construction machines in the country and abroad.
