Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko presented state awards to representatives of law enforcement agencies on 20 August.
Among the awardees are representatives of the KGB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Secretariat of the Security Council and the State Border Committee. State awards were given to 28 people.
The ceremony took place at the of the KGB facilities.
“Dear friends, today I can personally thank you for your service. I want to thank you for what you did for our country in the past year. Having displayed high professionalism, you did not falter in the minute of danger. You stood out, just like our grandfathers in the victorious year of 1945. These are not empty words,” the President stressed.
“They say big things are better seen from afar. Time will pass, and you, who have not realized that yet, will clearly realize what we did last year. I am also speaking about what you have done after those events. This is more sophisticated, careful and still very dangerous work,” the Belarusian leader remarked.
According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, over the years of independence we got used to living in a calm, beautiful and comfortable country, we know that Belarusians can work in peace. “At the same time, the behind-the-scenes war against Belarus of the so-called collective west has never stopped and will never stop. You are aware of it because you are fully involved in the events which have been taking place after August-September 2020. It seemed to us that we had won and would live in peace. But it was not the case,” the head of state said.
