On 16 June Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met
with Belarus’ Interior Minister Igor Shunevich to receive his report.
The head of state inquired about the state of readiness of the Belarusian police for the Belarusian People’s Congress that will start in less than a week. The minister said that logistical preparation of human and material resources to be used to ensure security has been completed. There will be police presence at locations that will be visited by delegates. Besides, the delegates will have police escort to and from the venues of the People’s Congress.
Aleksandr Lukashenko also asked about the preparations for the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Belarusian police in 2017. “We should celebrate this event properly,” the Belarusian leader noted. Igor Shunevich informed Aleksandr Lukashenko about the plan of preparations for the anniversary celebrations. The head of state approved the plan.
Besides, the minister was asked to report on the state of affairs in the Hockey Club Dinamo Minsk. “It is time to set a specific goal for the team, a level they should reach,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed. He also touched upon measures that should be taken for the development of the club. The Belarusian leader emphasized that the hockey players must demonstrate better results this season so that they would not “shame themselves once again in the eyes of Belarusian people.”
Igor Shunevich briefed Aleksandr Lukashenko on the team selection process at Dinamo Minsk. The club is ready to sign a number of contracts, including with foreign players, Belarusian athletes and coaching staff. The head of state voiced general approval of the plans.
