Belarus is interested in sharing technologies and setting up efficient enterprises in Uzbekistan, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Beijing on 25 April.

“Not only big empires can help Uzbekistan and Belarus. Medium-sized and small countries also have many good technologies. We have technologies which Uzbekistan and Uzbek people who are very similar to Belarusian people need. I am interested in sharing these technologies and setting up modern enterprises in Uzbekistan. These enterprises will be an example for other countries,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The plans have been reflected in a roadmap of developing cooperation between the two countries. “We are doing our best to fulfill our plans. Once we agreed to work out a roadmap, an action plan. We have done it, it includes 155 events. I cannot say that we are lagging behind anywhere. Trade is our priority. It annually increases by 20%,” the President said.

However, he said that Belarus and Uzbekistan could produce even better results in trade. “The roadmap will give a boost of our bilateral trade. I remember my promise. I am interested in developing production that Uzbekistan needs,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.

According to the head of state, Belarus will do its utmost to fulfill existing plans.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in turn, said that he is monitoring the progress in the implementation of the roadmap. “We agreed to bring your cutting-edge technologies to Uzbekistan. We have recently started cooperation across the board, but results are already visible,” the President of Uzbekistan said.
