Prospects of cooperation with the Swiss commodity trading and mining company Glencore International AG were discussed as Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with the company’s top executives on 12 May.
“I’ve heard a lot about you, about your accomplishments in business recently. It does not seem right that such a large company — Europe’s sixth largest — has no business and no standard business contacts in Belarus,” the head of state said.
“I would like us to come to terms so that we could work together in some areas,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
Glencore CEO Ivan Glasenberg, other Glencore executives, and the Russian businessman Mikhail Gutseriyev took part in the meeting.
