Belarus and Tambov Oblast agreed to enhance all-round cooperation. The agreement was reached at the meeting of President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko with Tambov Oblast Governor Oleg Betin on 4 August.
Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that Tambov Oblast is a reliable partner of Belarus. Over the pervious five years the bilateral trade increased more than two times. In particular, the Russian region already operates dealer and service centers of Gomselmash, Amkodor, MTZ and other big Belarusian manufacturers. A number of famous Belarusian brands opened their company stores there.
The head of state noted that Belarus is ready to expand cooperation with this region of Russia. For example, it can participate in the modernization of the agribusiness complex of Tambov Oblast. “One of the key issues of our meeting is cooperation in agribusiness. The two sides are interested in the exchange of advanced technologies, promotion of cooperation between scientists and farmers,” the Belarusian leader said.
The President emphasized that Belarus has a fundamental research base and suggested that scientists team up to conduct joint research in the field of selective breeding, genetics, crop protection, breeding of highly-productive crop varieties, animal breeds and resource-saving technologies. “We are ready to take part in the modernization of your animal breeding complexes, and, if needed, in the construction of agrotowns. We are ready to provide you with the most advanced agricultural machines,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
According to the President, Belarus is ready to supply buses and trolleybuses to Tambov Oblast, provide construction services, meet the region’s need in trucks, quarry machines, road construction machinery, municipal vehicles and elevators.
“In recent years our country has been actively working to enhance its investment appeal, produce innovative products meant for export. This is another area where we would like to expand cooperation with you. There are many things we can offer in the field of education, healthcare, culture, sport and tourism,” the head of state said.
In the run-up to the first session of the Belarus-Tambov Oblast working group on cooperation, Aleksandr Lukashenko suggested discussing and, if possible, resolving the issues that impede robust development of the bilateral cooperation. “You can be rest assured that if we agree on these things, we will be a reliable partner, just like for other Russian regions. We will certainly honor our obligations,” the President added.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said that he values cooperation with Tambov Oblast. “It is vey important for us to work with other Russian regions from the territory of our region,” the President stressed.
