The forthcoming meeting of the Supreme State Council of the UnionState should be efficient and yield practical results, Belarus President, Chairman of the Supreme State Council Aleksandr Lukashenko said during the working meeting with State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota on 20 June.
“It is a very important event. There will be a one-on-one meeting of the presidents, negotiations in the extended format, decision making. The agenda has been formed. I have not seen such elaborated practical issues for ages. These include the development of machine building, agriculture, agribusiness in general, other political and foreign policy issues,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “It is needed to prepare the event in a way to make at least one step forward in our relations in the practical dimension, to have an efficient event.”
The President mentioned the existing tradition to hold important practical events simultaneously with this political forum. In this case there will be the 4th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. “Governors who are very significant people in our states will meet with each other. It is very important. They will share opinions, discuss problems,” the Belarusian leader remarked. “You know that I always meet with Russian governors arriving in Belarus. We discuss issues that we can solve together. We implement programs to develop machine building, agriculture, and other areas with virtually all regions of Russia.”
Grigory Rapota agreed with the Belarusian head of state that it is very important to hold such events as the Forum of Regions alongside with the Supreme State Council meeting.
