On 16 October Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Russia President Vladimir Putin.

“We could outline pending issues regarding the Belarusian-Russian relations in the near future,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The Belarusian President suggested making final decisions on the pending issues either at the session of the Supreme State Council or during his visit to Moscow. Speaking about cooperation in the CIS, Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that Belarus and Russia have the same opinions on all issues.

The Presidents agreed that this platform for cooperation is needed; the colleagues from other countries agree that it should be adapted to present-day realities.

Vladimir Putin, in turn, once again congratulated Aleksandr Lukashenko on winning the election and expressed confidence that the countries will continue working together to improve the UnionState mechanisms, solve economic issues, harmonize positions in the international arena and in the social sector.
