Belarus and Moldova hope to preserve the growth dynamics of the trade turnover. The issue was discussed at the meeting of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko with Moldova President Igor Dodon on the sidelines of the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Sochi on 14 May.
The Belarusian head of state remarked that in spite of the recent meeting of the heads of state in Chisinau the countries already need to solve a number of issues. “Therefore, we are holding a meeting. I think we will discuss all problems and issues that we have in our relations. Although we do not have problems,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
“We are keeping an eye on the state of affairs in Moldova. You are doing the same in relation to Belarus. I am ready to exchange opinions on this issue,” the President added.
Igor Dodon, in turn, thanked Aleksandr Lukashenko for the official visit to Moldova. He said that the tractors which had been presented by Belarus were delivered to the regions that needed them. The corn sown by the two presidents has come up well.
“We are satisfied with the trade growth. Of course, we should do our best to restore the level we had several years ago. The dynamics we have is a very good signal, so we can expect that the trade between our countries will continue to growth this year,” the Moldovan leader said.
He also expressed hope that Belarus will support Moldova at the EAUE summit where the provision of an observer status in the union to Moldova will be discussed. “It is very important for us, we are open to the dialogue with the West and with the East,” Igor Dodon said.
