Meeting with Belarus’ Interior Minister Igor Shunevich

    On 7 August President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko heard out a report from Interior Minister Igor Shunevich.

    The head of state was informed about the performance of the Interior Ministry in H1 2014, the criminal situation and certain aspects of combating the most violent crimes.

    In particular, the President pointed to the increase in the number of domestic murders. The minister informed the head of state about the measures that the ministry takes in this field. The majority of such offenses were committed under the influence of alcohol. The head of state instructed the Interior Ministry to step up efforts to prevent such crimes.

    The President was also told about the changes in the personnel structure of the Interior Ministry and the plans to replace certain employees.

    The report also touched upon the reformation of law enforcement bodies. The main stages of this process were a success; certain aspects are being finalized now. The President demanded to finish the reformation by the end of the year.

    Apart from that, the sides discussed sport issues, for example, the participation of the Interior Ministry and the minister in the observation council of HC Dinamo Minsk. It is deemed necessary to straighten out the financial activities of the club, especially the salaries of its members. Participants of the meeting discussed the development prospects of the club in general.
