Belarusian people have not abandoned their good-neighborliness principles and have preserved peace and stability in the country, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said on 17 December as he presented state awards.
Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that the presentation of state awards in the run-up to Christmas and New Year celebrations has already become a good tradition; after all, the end of the year is the time to draw conclusions.
“The outgoing year was not easy. A new conflict has broken out near our borders. International relations have changed dramatically. It looks like the humankind is approaching another era of tensions and confrontation,” the President noted.
According to the head of state, this year has been associated with some difficulties and challenges, but Belarusians have coped with all the issues in a decent manner.
Belarus has harvested a good yield of grain and other crops and has ensured food security. New companies have been commissioned and existing facilities have been upgraded, which added nearly 1,500 enterprises to the country’s manufacturing capacity.
“Residential housing and social and cultural facilities have been built in Minsk and the regions over this year. For the first time in the history of modern-day Belarus, we have hosted a big international event – the ice hockey world championship,” the head of state said.
The head of state believes that Belarus’ achievements depend on those who work hard to make our lives better. The head of state conferred state awards on representatives of various professions. The President stressed, “Going by the results of their work, we can see, in what industries Belarus has made significant progress.”
Among the awardees was the representative of one of the flagships of the Belarusian machine-building industry and a world-famous Belarusian brand – OAO BelAZ. Belarus’ agribusiness was represented by the head of Servolux Agro operated by the joint company Servolux in Mogilev District. Within a few years the company has made serious modernization and boosted the production capacity. Besides, the factory has launched a number of manufacturing facilities.
“We honor Belarusian builders,” the President said. “During the five-year period the outlook of many Belarusian towns, from agrotowns and district capitals to the Belarusian capital city, has changed. Production premises, social and cultural facilities, residential housing were built, the infrastructure was improved.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko thanked workers of OAO Grodnozhilstroy, Belynichi mobile mechanical division No. 241, Brest construction company No. 8, Minsk mechanization department No. 79.
“The achievements of Belarusian medicine are praised. A big group of medical workers is present here today,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
He also stressed, “Today we honor those who ensure our security and peace. State decorations have been bestowed upon workers of the Interior Ministry, representatives of the Armed Forces and the Emergencies Ministry.” Honorary titles and state awards have been presented to the best teachers, mass media representatives, civil servants and cultural figures. The achievements of Belarus’ universities have been praised too.
Apart from that, the President awarded actors of the Brest Academic Drama Theater, head of the folk instruments orchestra of the Mogilev Oblast Philharmonic Hall. He also honored famous Belarusian athletes.
The Belarusian President thanked all the awardees for many years of hard work and dedication, for using their talents and skills in the interests of the Motherland. “I know that your road to high awards was thorny. However, people say that it is better to face challenges while moving forward, than to stand still. You are a perfect example of the belief that hard work, determination and perseverance will definitely lead to success,” the head of state said.
