Commentary to Decree No. 54 of 9 February 2012

On 9 February the President of the Republic of Belarus signed Decree No. 54 to introduce amendments to Decree No. 287 "On Taxation of Alimentary Goods and Goods for Children" of 21 June 2007.

The document envisages norms of putting a 10% value added tax on a range of alimentary goods imported to Belarus (first of all, goods for children).

The Decree provides for a list of goods in compliance with the new version of the Commodity Nomenclature of the Foreign Economic Activity of the Customs Union which becomes operational in 2012.

Some alimentary goods were excluded from the list of commodities, on which a 10% VAT is levied, due to objective reasons.

The document enters into force after its official publication.
