Commentary to Decree No. 28 of 16 January 2012

    On 16 January the President of the Republic of Belarus signed Decree No. 28 "On Some Aspects of Hosting the 2014 IIHF World Championship in Minsk."

    The document aims to smooth out the preparation to this tournament.

    Thus, goods, except for excisable ones, imported to the territory of Belarus and designed to hold the 2014 IIHF World Championship are exempt from import customs duties, taking into account international liabilities of the Republic of Belarus, and VAT. Goods imported for the construction, upgrade, and equipment of sports facilities, hotels, and other infrastructure objects will be exempt from duties on the basis of targeted permissions issued by Minsk City Hall. Permissions to free other goods from customs duties will be issued by the Tourism and Sports Ministry.

    Visa-free entry to Belarus will be allowed for the participants of the competition and foreign tourists for the period from 25 April to 31 May. Official participants of the tournament will be allowed to enter Belarus visa-free in case they are put on the lists of the official accreditation system of the IIHF World Championship. Foreign tourists should have original or electronic tickets for the matches of the tournament. Official participants and tourists are not required having medical insurance.
