Commentary to Decree No. 236 of 22 May 2014
On 22 May President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 236 concerning the bestowal of the anniversary medal “The 70thanniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” and a sample of the certificate presented together with this medal.
The medal will be conferred on veterans of the Great Patriotic War, former prisoners of the concentration camps, ghettos and prisons set up by the Nazi during the Great Patriotic War, people serving in the Armed Forces, other military and paramilitary organizations, civil servants and other persons who made a huge contribution to the heroic and patriotic education of the Belarusians, commemoration of the war victims, organization of events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.
About 70,000 people in Belarus will be awarded the anniversary medal.
The anniversary medal “The 70thanniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” was approved by the CIS Council of Heads of State on 25 October 2013.
