Commentary to Decree No. 18 of 6 January 2012

President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 18 "On Seeking and Rescuing Passenger Aircrafts Suffering Distress in the Territory of Belarus" on 6 January.

In accordance with Article 91 of the Air Code of the Republic of Belarus, the Decree makes the AVIATION rescue association responsible for seeking and rescuing passengers and crews of aircrafts suffering distress in the territory of Belarus.

The organization will guarantee round-the-clock readiness of rescue teams and aviation equipment to conduct rescue works in any region of the country.

Partaking in the rescue operations will be emergency bodies headquartered in the relevant region. Personnel and equipment of other national bodies and organizations may be employed if deemed necessary.
