Commentary to Decree No. 152 of 4 April 2013
The borders of the Minsk free economic zone will be expanded due to the inclusion of the production facilities of OAO Belryba and the land plot belonging to the managing company of Belkommunmash Holding Company. The President signed relevant Decree No. 152 “On introducing additions and amendments to Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 93 of 2 March 1998” on 4 April.
Therefore, the total area of the Minsk FEZ will increase by 13.1 hectares, from 2,635.9 hectares to 2,649.1 hectares.
OAO Belryba is implementing an investment agreement aimed at satisfying the consumer demand for high-quality fish products in Belarus. The status of the Minsk FEZ resident company will help reduce the prime cost of products by 8-10%, raise the competitiveness of local goods on the domestic and foreign markets, boost the volume of export and create 90 jobs.
In line with the presidential decree, Belkommunmash Holding Company is implementing an investment agreement on the territory of the Minsk FEZ in association with Swiss Stadler Rail AG. The project aims to make modern passenger electric transport. The volume of investments totals €50 million.
The aforementioned land plot is home to the facilities manufacturing trolleybuses, trams, buses with hybrid power units. Inclusion in the Minsk FEZ will create conditions to further ramp up the output of goods popular on the foreign markets and raise the competitiveness of products.
The decree will promote development of the economy of Belarus and the city of Minsk and help raise the inflow of investments in the development of the fish processing complex and the machine-building industry, create new jobs, enhance the country’s export potential.
