Comment on Decree No. 207 of 25 April 2013

    On 25 April President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 207 “On organizing the admission campaign in higher education and vocational secondary education institutions in 2013”.

    In line with the document a state commission has been set up to control the progress in preparations and holding the entrance tests in higher education and vocational secondary education institutions in 2013. The commission comprises members of the Council of the Republic and the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, heads of government agencies, representatives of public organizations, and employees of regulatory bodies.

    The commission is meant to enable control over the preparations and the holding of centralized tests, other forms of entrance tests, to provide prospective students with equal opportunities for getting admitted to higher education and vocational secondary education institutions, to take measures to address detected violations of the legal acts that regulate the organization and the holding of the admission campaign, to receive petitions from citizens regarding the organization and the holding of entrance tests, and to enable the coverage of the commission’s operation by mass media.

    The decree will enable the observance of the law during the preparations for and the holding of entrance tests and the enrolment of students into higher education and vocational secondary education institutions.
    The decree has been passed to enable equal opportunities for citizens to get admitted to higher education and vocational secondary education institutions and to enable control over the preparations and the holding of entrance tests.
