Belarusian Sport Olympus 2018 winners named
Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed a decree to approve the list of winners of Belarusian Sport Olympus 2018, the special prize of the Belarusian president.
Athlete-instructor of the national athletics team Volha Mazuronak has been honored with Belarusian Sport Olympus 2018 for her successful performance in the international competitions, including her victory in the women’s marathon at the 2018 European Athletics Championships. She was first at Minsk Half Marathon in 2015 and 2016, second at the 2015 European Team Championships, fourth at the 2016 Olympic Games marathon. Volha Mazuronak is a silver medalist of the European 10,000m Cup and a gold medalist of the 2018 European Championships. She was named Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Belarus.
The list of awardees includes Boris Gersten, deputy head of the sports division of the Second National TV Channel. He has been honored in recognition of his efforts to popularize fitness and sport, to promote healthy lifestyle. He is one of the most famous and experienced TV journalists and has been working in sports broadcasting for 25 years. Boris Gersten has worked at three Olympics and three Paralympics, 12 Universiades, provides news coverage on sports events, develops TV projects which receive prizes of international and national contests.
Senior sports coach of trampoline department at Grodno Olympic Reserve School No.3 Irina Baranovskaya has been awarded Belarusian Sport Olympus 2018 for training high-class athletes, champions and medalists of the world championships and the European championships. In the last three years, some of her students became champions and medalists of international sports events (Angelina Khatian, Artur Mikishka, Artsiom Zhuk, Aliaksei Dudarau).
