Aleksandr Lukashenko sends birthday greetings to Metropolitan Filaret
President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent birthday greetings to Metropolitan Filaret, Patriarchal Exarch Emeritus of All Belarus.
“You have dedicated your life to the service to the Orthodox Church, have done your best to restore the Orthodox Church and to turn it into a spiritual stronghold of the nation. The efforts and prayers of the first Belarusian Exarch helped renovate historical shrines, erect new churches and temples, enhance the dialogue between priests and churches. You have always promoted Christian love, peace and social accord,” the message of greetings reads.
Aleksandr Lukashenko also said: “It is not accidental that your pastoral and social activities are appreciated by state authorities and the Belarusian people. We know you as an outstanding preacher, teacher, theologian, sincere and open person.”
