Aleksandr Lukashenko sends anniversary greetings to Yuri Bashmet

President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent anniversary greetings to People’s Artist of the USSR Yuri Bashmet.

“You have won worldwide fame as an outstanding modern musician, brilliant viola player, wonderful conductor and pedagogue,” the felicitation message reads.

“We appreciate you as an old and good friend who became a dear person in the Belarusian land. The Yuri Bashmet International Festival organized thanks to your initiative has turned into one of the brightest and the most remarkable events in the cultural life of Belarus. It helped many young musicians find a way to stellar heights,” the head of state noted.
