Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko presented state award to distinguished Belarusians.

As the President noted, honoring the best representatives of different professions in the run-up to 3 July has become a good tradition: “In anticipation of the main state holiday - the Day of Republic - we remember the bravery of the soldiers-liberators who drove the Nazis away from the Belarusian land, who brought the freedom and peace to our people. We remember thousands of workers, whose restored the destroyed towns and villages. Today we honor those who worthily continue the glorious traditions of the faithful service to the Fatherland, its defense and protection, strengthening and comprehensive development ".

According to the head of state, the current ceremony reminds us that in civilian life there is a place not only for labor achievements but for heroism. Aleksandr Lukashenko awarded Order "For Personal Courage" to the family of Igor Ivanchik, a traffic policeman with the Main Interior Department of the Minsk City council, who was killed in the line of duty, rescuing a comrade. “For all of us, he will always remain an example of courage and self-sacrifice. This award is a sign of great respect for the people who dedicate their lives to fighting crime and ensuring law and order in the society,” stressed the President.

Today we honor entrepreneurs. They are heads of the enterprises, which have already become famous brands, the Belarusian head of state noted.

“Orders and medals are a tribute to those who create new jobs, assimilate advanced technology, transfer taxes to the budget, make a significant contribution to the development of social and cultural areas in the regions and the capital of Belarus, cares about the welfare of our citizens,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. In recent years the theme of government-business partnership, increasing the social responsibility of business has come to the forefront. Today we have quite a few good examples of such cooperation both in the development of productive capacities and in the implementation of social programs.

The President cited the successful work of the OOO Triple, Santa Bremor Group of Companies, ZAO Viteks, OAO Babushkina Krynka and the Alutech Group of Companies. They all manufacture high-quality products, which are widely popular not only in Belarus but also abroad.

Among the award recipients were also representatives of the state-run manufacturing companies. “Each of these achievements reflects success of enterprises of different industries. Today they are facing tough challenges of modernizing the production, increasing exports, improving the quality and profitability of products in new more stringent conditions of management. I want to address these requirements to the managers and specialists of Naftan, Building Company Stroytrest No. 8, the drilling company Delta and other representatives of both public and private companies,” said the head of state.

Aleksandr Lukashenko praised the achievements of talented scientists, healthcare specialists, workers of the forestry industry, figures of culture, coaches, and border guards.

Among the awardees were rectors and pedagogues of such leading Belarusian institutions of higher learning as the Belarusian State Economic University, the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy. “All of them have dedicated themselves to a very important work, which is to give knowledge and skills to the younger generation. The modern level of science and technologies requires new approaches to education. The system undergoes considerable changes in the country. The education becomes practice-oriented. We would like our university graduates to be highly qualified professionals who are in demand in the economy,” the Belarusian leader stressed.

Today in this hall we honor the artists of the Bolshoi National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, who have been awarded honorary titles. It is a bright example of a steady development of the theater art in the country. The best plays are widely discussed by theater goers and professional critics as well as by people of different age and interests,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The head of state wished all the present to have their awards as a stimulus for new achievements for the benefit of Belarus.
