Aleksandr Lukashenko hears out report of Belarus' Prosecutor General

President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has heard out a report by Belarus’ Prosecutor General Alexander Konyuk on 12 June.

The Prosecutor General informed the President about the crime rate in Belarus. “It is encouraging that the crime rate has shrank by almost 12%, including the number of severe crimes – those are the real figures. So the crime rate is decreasing,” Alexander Konyuk said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko and Alexander Konyuk also discussed preparation for the forthcoming meeting between the head of state and public prosecution officers. The meeting is aimed to specify and set new goals for the public prosecution system. This primarily pertains to the establishment of the Investigation Committee that will require certain changes in the work of public prosecutors.
