Aleksandr Lukashenko congratulates women on International Women’s Day

Belarus highly appreciates the achievements of women from all walks of life, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he congratulated women on the International Women’s Day.

“March 8 comes to us with the first sunny and warm days. This is a day of joy and hope. Spring fills our hearts with fondness, love and kindness – the qualities you bring into this world, dear women,” the head of state said.

The President underlined that mothers, wives, female laborers, homemakers, and custodians of family traditions have always enjoyed great respect in Belarus. “Euphrosyne of Polotsk, Anastasia of Slutsk, Sofia Kovalevskaya, Larisa Alexandrovskaya, Stefania Stanyuta, Olga Korbut and many other outstanding Belarusian women have made history. Belarusian women of today do not fall short,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“We highly appreciate your achievements in all walks of life. It is great that you often give us reasons to be proud of our state, our people. Female workers, civil servants, scientists, artists and athletes never give up when the first difficulties emerge, they work hard to reach their goals,” the President said addressing the attendees.

“You know how to live your life to the full. You can see beauty in the most mundane things; you can create a very cordial atmosphere around. You know how to give good advice to us, men. In the turbulent time like the present we need your kindness, wisdom and common sense,” the head of state said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko gave special thanks to mothers. “Belarusian literature and art celebrate mothers, their inner strength, integrity and dedication. Even today the spirit of our nation, traditional values, and time-tested family patterns are guarded by your caring hands. After all, a strong family means a strong nation,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“I have just said that the world has not become a better place yet. That is how things are. We, man, are unable to change it immediately. But I want to assure you that in the most difficult times and minutes of our life we will not disappoint you. We will not run away in a difficult situation. We will protect you with dignity and honor, because our life is meaningless without you,” the President said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished women new achievements, inexhaustible energy, great mood, family happiness, health, well-being and love.
