Aleksandr Lukashenko begins official visit to Cuba, Venezuela, Ecuador

    President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko begins an official visit to the Republic of Cuba, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Ecuador.

    President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko begins an official visit to the Republic of Cuba, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Ecuador.

    Top on the agenda will be the development of trade and economic relations, political dialogue and a number of promising areas of cooperation with Latin America.

    The bilateral trade of Belarus and Venezuela went up more than 200 times within five years. It increased from $6 million in 2006 to $1.3 billion in 2011. Belarus and Venezuela successfully cooperate in oil and gas extraction, petrol chemistry, energy sector and gasification, agriculture, industry, science and technologies, education and culture. Belarusian specialists took part in projects to build assembly plants for MAZ automobiles and MTZ tractors, launch the production of construction materials in Venezuela.

    The milestones of the Belarusian-Cuban cooperation are science, biotechnologies, geologic exploration and other fields, including the supply of agricultural and other equipment.

    Belarus and Ecuador have a big potential to boost mutually beneficial cooperation. Promising projects are those to set up joint enterprises, supply industrial and other products, provide services to Belarusian companies.
