Sport and Healthy Lifestyle
Mass sport is in the focus of the President, who is known for a healthy lifestyle, a sincere love for sport.
About 22,000 mass sport events are held in Belarus every year. The Belarusian Ski Track, the international Minsk Cycling Carnival and Minsk Half Marathon have become traditional events. National sectoral competitions have been revived. The country holds many competitions among children and teenagers, including Leather Ball (football), Fast Ball (handball), Snow Sniper (biathlon), and the national hockey tournament Golden Puck for the prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
Particular attention is paid to improving physical education of children and young people. Teenage sports clubs are set up all over the country. National Olympic training centers take care of the country's best athletes.
The system to train the talent pool involves 469 organizations of physical education and sport, including 11 Olympic reserve schools and 458 dedicated educational and sport institutions. About 168,000 young athletes are enrolled in these institutions.
