The Republic of Belarus implements a multifaceted foreign economic policy and maintains trade relations with more than 200 countries worldwide. Export is one of the priorities of the Belarusian economy. More than 60% of manufactured goods are exported to foreign markets, which is common for countries with highly developed and open economies.

The commodity structure of Belarusian export features over a thousand commodity items. The key ones are oil and petroleum products, fertilizers, trucks and tractors and spare parts to them, milk and cheese, meat products, furniture and timber, and tires.

Belarusian advanced technology products are in demand on foreign markets. These include buses, cars, wagons, road construction equipment, technological and electrical equipment, x-ray equipment, component parts for microelectronics, optical devices, etc.

Over the recent years, Belarus has become one of the leading food exporters.

The Republic of Belarus is one of the leaders in the export of potash fertilizers: in 2019 their export  amounted to $2.8 billion, or 8.4% of all exports.

The mechanical engineering industry also plays a significant role in exports. Every year, 65-70% of manufactured goods in this segment are sold outside the country. For example, in 2019 79% of manufactured trucks, 89.6% of refrigerators and household freezers, 61.9% of elevators, 95.1% of television sets and 96.1% of buses were exported. The country explores new promising sales markets every year. The major exporters are MTZ, BELAZ, Minsk Automobile Plant, Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ) and Gomselmash.

The country strengthens its presence in the international services market. Compared to 2010, services exports doubled. In 2019, this figure exceeded $9.6 billion and accounted for 23% of the country's total exports.

Computer services are significantly expanding. In 2019, their export amounted to about $2.1 billion, which is more than 9 times bigger than that of the end of 2010. Computer services accounted for 22% of services exports in 2019.

The Republic of Belarus is one of the world's leading exporters of IT services per capita. The top 100 best world outsourcing companies over the past 10 years lists six IT companies with Belarusian offices.
