Visit to Denmark and meeting with the UN Secretary General

On 10-12 March 1995 Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko visited Denmark that hosted the World Summit for Social Development on 6-12 March. The Belarusian head of state took part in the conference and delivered a speech. The speech sparked a great interest of politicians and journalists. Right after the speech UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali initiated a meeting with Aleksandr Lukashenko that took place soon afterwards.

A series of other meetings were held on the sidelines of the summit. Aleksandr Lukashenko met with leaders of a number of countries, including the Netherlands, Czechia, Ukraine, Russia, China and Uzbekistan. According to the Belarusian leader, these meetings and talks were even more important than the participation in the summit, because these meetings focused on specific economic issues.
