Participation in the OSCE summit

On 17-19 November 1999 Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko paid a working visit to Istanbul, Turkey to attend the summit of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The Belarusian delegation took an active part in the discussion of the main document of the summit – the Charter for European Security. Upon Belarus’ suggestions, provisions on economic and environmental dimensions of security were added to the Charter.

The head of state also met with foreign leaders on the sidelines of the summit.
