Working visit to Kyrgyzstan

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko touched down in Manas International Airport in Kyrgyzstan on a working visit.

The Belarusian leader is set to attend a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Bishkek on 1 September. The summit is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the organization.

In his speech at the meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council, Aleksandr Lukashenko will outline Minsk’s position on the organization’s key areas of work, present proposals for its further development, and strengthening its international status.

Following the meeting, a broad list of documents is expected to be adopted, the main one being the SCO 25th Anniversary Declaration. The heads of state are set to examine a number of issues in security, energy, transport, science and technology, and digitalization.

On 31 August, Aleksandr Lukashenko will attend the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games.

The Belarusian leader is also scheduled to hold several meetings with foreign counterparts on the sidelines of the summit.
