Greetings to the people of the French Republic

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko sent greetings to the people of the French Republic as the country celebrates the national holiday – the 14th of July.

"For many years, the peoples of Belarus and France, who are united by numerous events in the common past, similar values and traits of the national character, have been developing human ties, friendship and business relations," the message reads. "Unfortunately, today the sincere desire of Belarusians and French people to cooperate, to learn about each other's history and culture runs into artificial obstacles and prohibitions dictated by the European political situation."

The head of state wished the French people happiness, prosperity and a peaceful creative future.
