Opening ceremony of Turkmenistan Embassy in Minsk

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the opening ceremony of the Turkmenistan Embassy in Minsk on 12 May.
According to the head of state, it is deeply symbolic that the Embassy of Turkmenistan opens in the center of Minsk shortly after a remarkable anniversary for all member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which is Victory Day.
The Belarusian President stressed that a year and a half ago the President of Turkmenistan and he laid a time capsule in the foundation of the building. The building which a genuine architectural landmark of the city opened on 12 May 2016.
Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus was paying much attention to the construction process at all stages. For example, tax preferences were provided, the infrastructure was created, and the nearby territory was beautified.
“I am convinced that the Embassy will be a hub of the Belarusian-Turkmen cooperation. The diplomats who will be working here will make a big contribution to the enhancement of sincere friendship between our nations and business partnership between our states,” Aleksandr Lukashenko assured.
He also stressed that there are many Turkmen students in Belarus. After graduation their will take part of the Belarusian soul with them and will do their best to enhance Belarus-Turkmenistan friendship in the future. The foundation of this friendship is laid in Minsk. “Of course, this is a testimony to the mutual confidence in the long-term character of bilateral relations, the resolution to develop and deepen them. Besides, there are a lot of bilateral projects which will benefit our states,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.
The head of state pointed out the importance of commissioning large facilities in Turkmenistan. Aleksandr Lukashenko said that there are no big problems in the implementation of joint projects. All pending issues are timely solved.
According to the Turkmenistan leader, “the new building will rely on a solid foundation of bilateral friendship and mutual understanding.” He believes that the Embassy of Turkmenistan will do its best to develop bilateral ties. The work of the Embassy will comply with a high level of Belarus- Turkmenistan relations, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized.
The heads of state were informed about the working conditions of diplomats and saw an exhibition featuring Turkmen traditions and culture at the museum, and left messages in the Book of Distinguished Guests.
