Official visit to Turkmenistan

On 15-17 May 2002 Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko made an official visit to Turkmenistan. The head of state held a number of meetings with President Saparmurat Niyazov, got familiar with the economic potential of the eastern and western regions of the country, inspected the infrastructure of the Turkmen River Shipping Company, visited the agricultural association Vatan, an oil refinery, and a textile factory.

Aleksandr Lukashenko and Saparmurat Niyazov signed the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty between Belarus and Turkmenistan. Other bilateral documents were also concluded.
