Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made an official visit to the Russian Federation on 27-28 February 1996, which began with a ceremony in the St. George Hall of the Kremlin Palace. Then Aleksandr Lukashenko and Boris Yeltsin held the negotiations, which resulted in the signing of important agreements, the main of which was the document on the settlement of mutual financial claims.
The Belarusian delegation headed by Aleksandr Lukashenko also met with Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin. The Belarusian head of state also had a conversation with Chairman of the Federation Council Egor Stroyev.
The president of Belarus toured Moscow State University where he talked to teachers and students. The head of state met with representatives of the Belarusian diaspora. In addition, Aleksandr Lukashenko laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden.
