Official visit to Egypt

On 15-16 June 1998 Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko paid an official visit to Egypt. Before the departure for Cairo, the head of state met with journalists. He stressed that Belarus priority was to develop economic cooperation with Egypt and to strengthen ties in education and culture.

In the Egyptian capital, the Belarusian leader held talks with Egypt President Hosni Mubarak, senior officials of the Egyptian government and parliament, and representatives of the business circles. During the visit, the parties signed a number of bilateral agreements.

The visit of the Belarusian delegation to Egypt wrapped up with a press conference of the Belarusian head of state.
