Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with leader of the Great Libyan Revolution Muammar al-Gaddafi on 2-3 November.

Aleksandr Lukashenko underscored the affinity of approaches of Belarus and Libya to forming a fair multipolar world.

The Belarusian head of state remarked Belarus welcomes Libya’s position as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. Aleksandr Lukashenko thanked Libya for constant support for Belarus’ position in the international arena.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, Belarusian-Libyan ties have been based traditionally on mutual respect. “In practice Belarus has proved its support for Libya in the times most difficult for the Libyan nation. Today our nation is ready to provide the necessary assistance in your country’s future development,” said the President of Belarus.

As a reliable partner of Libya Belarus feels sincere joy about the successes Libya has achieved in recent years. These successes have enabled Libya to secure leading positions in the region, stressed the President of Belarus. “Your visit is another confirmation of the genuinely friendly relations between Belarus and Libya, the common striving of the two countries for the tightest cooperation,” noted the Belarusian head of state.

“I have very warm feelings about our meeting in Tripoli in 2000 and the hospitality of the Libyan people. I am pleased that you have found time to visit Belarus and I’ve got an opportunity to respond to you with our national hospitality,” added the President of Belarus.
