Igor Shunevich appointed First Deputy Interior Minister

President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Igor Shunevich First Deputy Interior Minister.

"I think, the experience that you acquired in the KGB is very useful for you. You are a qualified specialist of the Interior Ministry. You served in all posts in the ministry, you know it from within, you are familiar with the investigation process. It is very important for us. However, the most important thing is that in the KGB you controlled the work of law enforcement bodies. Thus, you know all the problems of the Interior Ministry from within," Aleksandr Lukashenko told Igor Shunevich.

The President stressed that a new first deputy interior minister should get ready to address more serious tasks.

"I advice you from the very first day to show that you are not just a man who came to the Interior Ministry from the KGB. Some scribblers say and write that there is nearly a fight between the Interior Ministry, the KGB, and so on. I must say that the Interior Ministry and the KGB are the two bodies that are working for the country. But when you come there you should demonstrate that you are a specialist who knows the Interior Ministry from within," Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
