Greetings to Governor General of Canada David Johnston
On behalf of the Belarusian people and himself President
Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to Governor General of Canada David
Johnston as the country celebrates Canada Day and the 150th
anniversary of Confederation.
“With exceptional gratitude we recall the kindness and sympathy of Canadians who were among the first nations to help our country after the Chernobyl accident,” the message of greetings reads.
The President remarked that this year Belarus and Canada mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The peoples of the two countries have maintained close friendship for a quarter of a century. He expressed confidence that by joint efforts Belarus and Canada will enhance and expand good relations.
