Commentary to Decree No. 14 of 10 January 2014
On 10 January President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 14 “Concerning the institution of the jubilee medal “70th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from Nazi invasion”.
The decree specifies the provision on the jubilee medal, its description and the sample of a corresponding certificate which given to medal holders.
On the obverse there is a Soviet soldier with a gun, a member of irregular forces and a member of the underground against the backdrop of the blown up railway line. There is a laurel branch tangled with a ribbon of the Order of Honor on the left side.
The jubilee medal will be conferred on veterans of the Great Patriotic War, former prisoners of concentration camps, jails, ghettos established by the Nazi and their allies during the Great Patriotic War.
Apart from that, the medal will be bestowed upon foreign citizens and stateless persons who took part in the military campaign to free Belarus from Nazi invasion during the Great Patriotic War.
The medals will be also presented to members of the Belarusian Armed Forces, other military and paramilitary organizations, civil servants and other persons in recognition of their big personal contribution to the patriotic education of the Belarusians, commemoration of war victims, organization of events timed to the 70th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from Nazi invasion.
