Aleksandr Lukashenko visits House of Charity in Minsk

    On Christmas Day, 7 January, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko visited the House of Charity in Minsk and met with Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk Filaret, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus.

    The President visited the Orthodox Church and lit up a Christmas candle.

    Aleksandr Lukashenko and Metropolitan Filaret exchanged gifts. The President donated a unique copy of the Gospels. The book is made in old liturgical traditions and is designed to be used during services. The text of the book is in Old Church Slavonic. This present will be kept in Metropolitan Filaret's private library.

    Aleksandr Lukashenko and Metropolitan Filaret talked about the spiritual revival of the society, the interaction of the state and the Belarusian Orthodox Church, the development of the Christian civilization in the modern world.
