Aleksandr Lukashenko sends greetings to Australian Open winner Victoria Azarenka

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated member of the Belarusian national tennis team Victoria Azarenka on winning the Australian Open title in Melbourne.

"Dear Victoria, I wholeheartedly congratulate you on a remarkable victory at one of the most prestigious Grand Slam tournaments, the Australian Open. With bated breath, the whole country followed hot battles on the courts, worried about and supported you. On these frosty days of January you lit up the hearts of Belarusians with your strong spirit, perfect tenacity, true mastery, and elegant play," the congratulatory message runs.

"Vika, you are the pride of the nation. The Motherland admires your achievement which has already entered into history of the Belarusian and world sports," the head of state stressed. He once again congratulated Victoria Azarenka on the victory and awarded the athlete with the Order of Motherland III Class.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also wished Victoria Azarenka success and new achievements, so that she would tame new sports heights.

The coaching athlete of the Belarusian national tennis team, Merited Master of Sports of Belarus, Victoria Azarenka was decorated with the Order of Motherland III Class for her sport mastery, great achievements and a remarkable victory at the Australian Open tournament.
