Aleksandr Lukashenko signs law on telecommunication
Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has signed a law to introduce amendments to the legislation on telecommunication.
In accordance with the document, in order to prevent situations posing threats to the national security the state can take measures to limit the operation of telecommunication networks and related telecommunication facilities (reducing the time and volumes of their use, changing operation regimes), to suspend the operation of telecommunication networks and related telecommunication facilities (temporary suspension of their operation).
It is envisaged that the Operational and Analytical Center under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus will be authorized to supervise the operation of public telecommunication networks. In case telecommunication operators fail to fulfill the requirements on the suspension or restriction of operation of telecommunication networks and related telecommunication facilities, it will be a serious violation of the legislation on telecom licensing.
The law enters into force after its official publication.
