On the establishment of the Academy of Intellectual Technologies

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 310 “On the establishment of the Academy of Intellectual Technologies” on 10 September.

Starting 1 September 2027, the academy will begin training specialists in natural sciences, industrial and digital technologies, and other forward-looking fields.

Admission to the academy will follow a unique nationwide competition-based selection process, open to school graduates, college and university students, enterprise specialists, and scientists. Preliminary rounds will take place in Minsk, regional centers, and major cities. Applicants will be required to submit a creative idea, project development, invention, or innovation proposal.

The final selection stage will feature a practical intensive course at the academy, including individual and group assignments, a public project defense, and an internal entrance exam.

The academy will engage leading scientists, professors, corporate executives, and industry practitioners with proven track records of significant achievements in research, innovation, and manufacturing.

A special approach has also been designed for the curricula, which can be adjusted based on industry demands. Students will be able to independently choose courses, minors, or majors. Their training will feature on-site learning at enterprises to solve real production tasks, alongside group and individual research and project activities. All of this is designed to yield a tangible product aimed at commercialization and implementation in real economy.

The experimental curricula and cutting-edge methods successfully trialed at the academy will be rolled out to other educational institutions, further driving up the quality of specialist training.

Upon completion of their studies, students will take a state exam and defend either a startup project or an applied research paper.

The academy’s operations and oversight will be managed by a supervisory board headed by the education minister. The board will include executives from line ministries and agencies, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB), and the Hi-Tech Park.

The establishment of the academy will help create a flexible, modern interdisciplinary research and educational environment. It will focus on practical results and integrate into real economic processes, tailored to the country’s needs.
